Two leaders, one long practice of spiritual formation

Next Leadership was founded by Rev Dr Kate Coleman, and is now co-directed with Rev Cham Kaur-Mann. Together they bring decades of experience in ministry, leadership development, coaching and organisational change across the church, charity and voluntary sector, public service and business.

Their partnership is shaped by distinct cultural backgrounds and ministerial journeys, and by different experiences of leadership, identity, power and belonging. These differences widen what they see, sharpen the questions they ask and strengthen their ability to help others lead across cultures, through complexity and in times of change.

Rev Dr Kate Coleman

Founding Director · Next Leadership

Kate is the founder of Next Leadership and an author, leadership development specialist, coach, mentor and speaker. She was the first Black woman to be ordained as a Baptist minister in the United Kingdom. She went on to serve as President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later as Chair of the Evangelical Alliance Council.

Drawing on more than thirty-five years of leadership and ministry, Kate helps people clarify their calling, confront limiting patterns and contribute courageously to personal, organisational and societal transformation. Her books include 7 Deadly Sins of Women in Leadership and Metamorph.

Rev Cham Kaur-Mann

Co-Director · Next Leadership

Cham is Co-Director of Next Leadership and a leadership development specialist, coach, mentor, speaker and facilitator. Born into a Punjabi Sikh family, she became the first Asian woman to be recognised as a minister in the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

Her work brings together spiritual formation, cultural intelligence, collaborative leadership and a deep commitment to releasing people who have too often been overlooked or underestimated. Cham helps leaders engage honestly with who they are, how they relate to others and what kind of cultures they are creating.

Together, Kate and Cham create spaces where leaders can listen more deeply, see more clearly and respond more courageously. Their work is grounded in Christian faith, enriched by cross-cultural friendship and shaped by a shared conviction: transformed leaders transform communities, organisations and systems.
